The Passing of a Fine Young Writer

I was shocked and saddened this evening to learn of the death of a fine young man I knew all too fleetingly on the net. I came across the work of Chris Al Aswad, otherwise known as Lethe Bashar, on twine.com many moons ago. I read much of his work at that time, we had a brief blogrespondence and I moved on, becoming too busy to keep in touch. He was a prolific writer, a fine essayist, and leader in bringing literary culture to the internet. He devoted himself fully to the arts, to discovering and showcasing new talent, and was in many ways an inspiration to me in founding this website. Curiously, I thought of him, as I contemplated whom to invite here, and decided he probably didn’t need my help. That would have been about the time he died. My heart goes out to his loved ones.
